Producers need to consider several aspects when it comes to Historical movies. Some aspects include setting, costumes, music, effects, and even language! As language varies form time to time.
I am not a critic, but there have been cases in which some of those factors are not well taken care of. However, that is not the only thing. Producers also need to be careful with events that where taking place during that time if they want an accurate historical movie.

I love this movie genre. Historical movies are very interesting because they narrate events that happened in the past and they are part of our mankind. I think timeline is important but isn't neccesary to follow it; some movies starts with some recents events and continue with something that occured early. For example Frida Kahlo. Sadly some movies exaggerates when the producers altered some scenes with the purpose to impressing the viewer with more action, fire, speed and danger, etc.

I love the movies about the world war and nazis because its interesting what happened, my favorite movie is in that genre and is "Enemy at the gates", it narrates the history about a Russian sniper who was very feared by the German troops when they were invading Rusia.
In conclusion Historical movies are very fascinating.

ReplyDeleteI think that is very important to follow the timeline because they will take in account several aspects for example: calendars, actors, sets, furniture but sometimes it's very difficult follow it. I'm sure that all movies have a timeline.
About that some event or facts can be altered for the movie to gain more popularity= this is a strategy of each producer and this is the best way for gain more popularity and money !!

I disagree with the movies that alterate the events or exagerate the facts with the purporse to gain more popularity, because the movies lose the real context and can give the wrong information about that historical age.

DeleteIn my opinion, I think is so important to follow the timeline in History for the movie, but also is necesary that some events can be altered to create a melodrama athmosphere. For example I loved that movie "Titanic", in fact that movie contain the true story, but the main theme was a romactic story between Rose and Jack, and in this form we can understand what happened in the real life.
ReplyDeleteIf i could produce my own historical movie, I´d represent my childhood, when i was a little girl and would skated in my neigborhood streets. I have a lot of good memories with my friends and my brother caring me of a fall down.
I agree with you 50%, in the Historical Movies gender, it´s very important to follow the timeline, but I don´t agree in add scenes out of reality.

ReplyDeleteI really love the true story, especially when they are the kind of historic genre. I enjoy watching the costumes and the architecture of that time, for me that kind of movie is a form to take knowledge about how that people lived, and for what they had to fight for.
But in this genre movie you can also find a lot that are fiction. The author only uses the history scene for catch the attention of the audience and include character whit a good argument. In this kind of fiction stories is classic watch a hero, who always fight but in the intermission always find the love too.
If I could make a historical movie of me, I would focus on the birth of my first niece, because it was a total different feelings and moments that I really enjoyed

In my opinion, I preferred that the directors won´t change the timeline and events of the history.
About third question, I think that people in the world is lost, because we live in a sin world, we need to change to be a better world, we need movies like "The Passion" of Mel Gibson, I´m sure that movie like this influence strongly in the people to be better, for that reason if I was a director, I work with Christian Historical Movies, there are a lot of testimonials of the power of Jesus in all the world and I sure that this is the only way to reach him.
I have seen great Historical Movies, talking about the list that you sent us I will to comment about the following:
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, amazing story, several life lost in exchange of one mother recovered one son of four at least.
SCHINDLER´S LIST, very crude story about the World War II, a man who is attracted by the ambition can change after he realized that can save lives of people with money.
BRAVEHEART, great movie, a good example of brave warriors who fight for their liberty.
APOLLO 13, great story about the strategy that NASA used to bring back home all the astronauts of a missing failed.
